This document provides a profile of education in the Northwest Territories from kindergarten to grade 12 for the school year. It begins with an overview of the language & cultural groups found in the Territories and how the education system is organized & governed. It then presents and discusses educational indicators in five sections: context indicators such as population & official language groups; input indicators that describe what resources, such as funding, go into the education system; process indicators that describe activities resulting from use & management of those resources, such as program access & participation; output indicators that describe students' development while still in school, including student performance, course completion, and school completion; and outcome indicators that describe the indirect impact of education after leaving school, such as earnings by educational level. Includes glossary.

Philosophy of Education in the Northwest Territories
Describes the present philosophical basis and rationale for education programs and curriculum development in the Northwest Territories. It is an up-dating and reorganization of the two handbooks for curriculum development: Elementary education in the NWT (1972) and Learning in the middle years (1973).
